Scattering at the plasma in lightning channels is sometimes observed with RWP (see Petitdidier/Laroche, 2005), but it is no issue for practical wind profiling due to the extremely short lifetime of the echoes. The main effect of these short transients is a higher noise level in the Doppler spectra.
